Fox, Garcia, Gutch and Sollenberger Win Junior National Titles

Morgantown, West Virginia -   Joshua Sollenberger won his second title of the week and three others also won gold on Monday at the USA Diving Junior National Championships.

Sollenberger, who dives with the Indiana International School of Diving, took the gold medal in the boys’ Group A (16-18 years) 1-meter event with a score of 502.75 points.  He also earned a win in the 3-meter synchro contest on Saturday.  Bennett Greene of Tennessee Aquatics Diving earned the 1-meter silver medal with a score of 471.50 points, with Luke Sitz of Dallas Metroplex Diving taking the bronze medal with a score of 470.95.

The girls’ Group B (14-15 years) platform final was a very close contest.  Just 5.95 points separated the first three positions on the podium.  Callie Fox of the Mission Viejo Nadadores came out on top with a winning score of 318.40 points.  Sophia Narbut of Stanford Diving was two points behind to earn the silver medal with 316.40 points.  Evelyn Wang of McCormick Divers took the bronze medal with a score of 313.45.

Lanie Gutch of the Orlando Dive Academy won the gold medal in the Group A (16-18 years) girls’ 1-meter springboard with a score of 381.10 points.  Charlotte Norman of Pelican Diving Team was second with 376.05 points followed by Katerina Hoffman of Knight Diving Academy with 367.90 points for the bronze medal.  Hoffman also won the silver medal in the Group A/B 3-meter synchro competition.

Montgomery Dive Club’s Cristiano Garcia had a convincing win in the Group B (14-15 years) boys’ 3-meter springboard competition with a score of 461.30. Garcia swept the individual events in the 2023 Junior National Championships. Second place went to Mikolas Schwickert of Clavadistas del Sol with a score of 434.20 followed by Evan Kerim of The Woodlands Diving Academy with 421.90 points for the bronze medal.

Competition at the USA Diving Junior National Championships continues through August 7. Tuesday’s competition features the 14-15 boys and girls on 1-meter, the 16-18 boys on 3-meter and the 16-18 girls on platform.
