Women's synchronized 3-meter medalists at the 2024 USA Diving Winter National Championships
Two Synchro Champions Crowned on Day Two of 2024 Winter Nationals
Bloomington, Ind. – Lily Witte (Dexter, Mich./Indiana University) and Bailee Sturgill (Noblesville, Ind./Rutgers University) won women’s synchronized 3-meter and Max Weinrich (Brookeville, Md. /Indiana University) and Dash Glasberg (Santa Monica, Calif./Indiana University) won women’s synchronized 10-meter on Thursday at the USA Diving Winter National Championships.
Sturgill and Witte scored 513.12 points over two lists of 3-meter dives to win their first national title together. The pair took fifth at last year’s winter nationals and finished fourth in 2022. The pair was consistent throughout the day as the only team to score more than 50 points on all of their optional dives in both the prelims and finals. They scored no lower than 53.76 on any optional dive, with their best mark coming on a back 2 ½ tuck that scored 61.32 points in the prelim.
Kyndal Knight (Stanley, N.C./Kentucky Diving Club) and Anna Kwong (Omaha, Neb./TCU) finished second with 497.70 points, just three tenths of a point ahead of bronze medalists Margo O’Meara (St. Louis, Mo./Duke University) and Sophie Verzyl (Columbia, S.C./University of South Carolina).
Weinrich and Glasberg came through with 663.18 points on two lists of dives to win the 10-meter synchro title. Their day was highlighted by 77.76 points on an inward 3 ½ tuck in the final, and they had three other dives – one in the final and two in the prelim – score 65 points or higher.
Ray Preas (Dallas, Texas/University of Louisville) and Raymond Winn IV (Arlington, Va./University of Louisville) finished second with 508.59 points.
The 2024 USA Diving Winter National Championships continue through December 15. Individual events kick off Friday with preliminaries and finals on 1-meter for both men and women.
