Jack Ryan Sweeps Springboard Events; Daryn Wright Wins 10-Meter at Winter Nationals

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Three events. Three gold medals. Jack Ryan (Denver, Colo./Stanford Diving) completed the sweep of the men’s springboard events with a victory on 3-meter Saturday at the USA Diving Winter National Championships. 2024 Olympian Daryn Wright (Plainfield, Ind./Purdue Diving) won the women’s 10-meter contest.

Ryan, who had already won 1-meter and synchronized 3-meter earlier in the week, added an individual 3-meter title with 852.40 points over two lists of dives on Saturday.

Carson Tyler (Moultrie, Ga./Johansen Diving Academy) finished second at 766.95, and Quinn Henninger (Denver, Colo./Johansen Diving Academy) scored 739.60 points for bronze.

Ryan held a 7.45-point lead over Tyler after the morning preliminaries, and the contest remained close halfway through the final. With three dives remaining, he led by just 2.75 points. Ryan responded with 84 points or higher on each of his last three dives, scoring 84 points on his reverse 3 ½ tuck, 89.25 on his reverse 1 ½ with 3 ½ twists and 91.20 on his front 4 ½ tuck to earn his third gold medal of the week.

Wright scored 655.65 points on her two lists of 10-meter dives to win gold. Anna Lemkin (Woodside, Calif.) finished second with 575.10 points, and Sophie McAfee (San Marino, Calif./Purdue Diving) took bronze at 571.50.

Wright scored 68 points or higher on three of her five dives in the final, including 77.55 points on a back 3 ½ tuck and 72 points on a front 3 ½ pike. The win was Wright’s second national title on 10-meter; she also won the event at the 2021 USA Diving Winter National Championships.

The USA Diving Winter National Championships wrap up Sunday with women’s 3-meter and men’s 10-meter preliminaries and finals.
