Brandon Loschiavo Places 17th on 10-Meter at Olympic Games

PARIS – Brandon Loschiavo (Huntington Beach, Calif./West Lafayette, Ind.) wrapped up his second Olympic Games with a 17th-place finish in the men’s 10-meter semifinals Saturday morning.

Loschiavo scored 372.45 points, highlighted by 73.10 points on a reverse 3 ½ tuck and 72 points on an inward 3 ½ tuck.

Loschiavo had just two weeks to prepare for his Olympic competition, with the United States getting notice of a second men’s 10-meter spot on July 25.

“I wasn't expecting to even get past the first dive, so I'm just grateful I've been able to compete. On two weeks of training, I've been able to surprise myself, so I'm keeping my chin high,” Loschiavo said.  “Taking a month off in between a competition is not something I ever want to do. Coming back, I just kind of felt like a different diver, which is a little bit upsetting, but it's a cool opportunity to see what you can do within those stipulations, so I can't complain so much.”

He finished 13th in Friday’s preliminary to advance to the semifinals.
