MISSION VIEJO, California – USA Diving has announced a partnership with the City of Mission Viejo and Mission Viejo Nadadores Diving Team to hold a pre-Olympic Games training camp just prior to the 2028 Olympic Games.  The U.S. team will fine tune its training at the Marguerite Aquatics Complex before heading to Los Angeles to compete in the XXXIV Olympiad.

“Mission Viejo has a long-standing tradition with the Olympic movement,” said Mission Viejo Mayor Bob Ruesch. “As a host city of the bike races in the 1984 LA Olympics to our participation in LA 2028, Mission Viejo and its residents embrace the excitement of being a part of Olympic competition. We symbolize this spirit with an Olympic Torch prominently placed on the city seal. We will be excited to host USA Diving for the 2028 Olympic Team training camp in Mission Viejo.”

“USA Diving is excited to partner with the City of Mission Viejo and the Mission Viejo Nadadores to host our 2028 pre-Olympic Games camp,” said USA Diving President Lee Michaud. “Mission Viejo has a deep history of excellence in diving, and its world-class facilities, supportive community, and ideal training environment make it the perfect location for our athletes to prepare for the Olympic Games. We look forward to building on this partnership and creating an unforgettable training experience on the road to Los Angeles 2028.”

“This opportunity is déjà vu for me,” said Michele Mitchell, Ph.D., two-time Olympic silver medalist and Executive Director of the Nadadores. “In 1984, the U.S. Olympic diving team participated in its pre-Games training at the Marguerite Aquatics Complex. The anticipation of the Games was electric, and the community welcomed us and shared in the excitement and patriotism. We are so happy to now be able to offer that same feeling of hope and encouragement to the 2028 diving team.”
