Andrew Capobianco, Delaney Schnell Lead Semifinal Field At Olympic Trials

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Andrew Capobianco (Holly Springs, N.C./Bloomington, Ind.) and Delaney Schnell (Tucson, Ariz.) sit in first place after the individual men’s 3-meter and women’s 10-meter semifinals Friday at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Diving.

Scores from the semifinals will carry over into Sunday’s finals. The top two 3-meter divers and the top 10-meter diver will qualify to the U.S. Olympic Team.

Capobianco leads the men’s 3-meter field with 507.25 points. He scored 91.65 and 91.20 points on his last two dives and will bring a 21.65-point lead into Sunday’s finals. Carson Tyler (Moultrie, Ga./Bloomington, Ind.), the leader after Thursday’s 10-meter semifinals, finished second in the 3-meter semifinals with 485.60 points.  Luke Sitz (Prosper, Texas) is third at 430.10, and Tyler Downs (Ballwin, Mo./West Lafayette, Ind.) is fourth at 421.65.

Schnell will look to add a second event to her schedule in Paris after already qualifying in synchronized 10-meter. Schnell scored 325.95 points in the individual 10-meter semifinals and leads Daryn Wright (Plainfield, Ind./West Lafayette, Ind.) by 18.10 points heading into the final. Sophia McAfee (San Marino, Calif./West Lafayette, Ind.) is third with 275.10 points, and Katrina Young (Shoreline, Wash./Los Angeles) is fourth at 270.40.

The 2024 U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Diving run through June 23. Saturday’s competition features men’s 10-meter finals at 1 p.m. ET and women’s 3-meter finals at 7 p.m. ET. Both will be televised live on NBC and Peacock.
