Raine Rutter Wins Second Gold at Junior Nationals

Morgantown, West Virginia - Raine Rutter of Santa Clara Diving Club earned her second gold medal with a win in the girls’ Group D (11 and under) 1-meter event on Thursday at the USA Diving Junior National Championships.  She added this to a gold on 3-meter and a silver on platform over the past three days.  Her score of 212.90 was just ahead of Milan Xing of Arrow Dive Club who scored 206.90 for the silver.  Aliyana Martin of Mansfield Diving took the bronze medal with a score of 197.75 points.

In the Group C (12-13 years) boys’ platform event, Tanner Tessier of Triad Diving Academy scored 301.00 points to take the gold medal.  Pengxu Lor of Minnesota Diving Academy was less than five points behind with a score of 296.50 winning the silver medal.  Coral Springs Diving made the podium when Tihon Fomin scored 294.30 to earn bronze in a very exciting contest.

Hannah McLaughlin of Woodlands Diving Academy was a convincing winner of the Group C (12-13 years) girls’ 3-meter competition.  She scored 322.65 points to earn her second medal of the 2024 championships.  Hannah was a silver medalist in the 1-meter competition and was a 2023 Junior National Championship gold medalist on the platform.  Ella Guo of Arrow Dive Club was the 2024 silver medalist with a score of 300.70 and Katherine Mo of McCormick Divers earned the bronze with 290.05 points.

The USA Diving Junior National Championships continues through August 7. With competition in the 11-and-under and 12-13 age groups now complete, the focus shifts to the 14-15 and 16-18 age groups. Friday’s competition features preliminaries in four events: 16-18 girls’ 1-meter, 14-15 boys’ 3-meter, 14-15 girls’ platform and 16-18 boys’ 1-meter. In all, 28 junior national champions will be crowned throughout the junior nationals.
