Girls 12-13 platform medalists at the 2024 Junior National Championships
Stanford Diving Sweeps Girls Group C Platform at Junior Nationals
Morgantown, West Virginia – Sunshine returned to the Peak Health Aquatic Center at Mylan Park on Wednesday, the third day of the USA Diving Junior National Championships.
In the Group D boys’ (11 and under) 1-meter competition, Brady Voloshin of Knight Diving Academy earned a score of 192.30 to win the gold medal. Voloshin also earned a silver medal in the platform event on Tuesday. Frank Li of Trojan Dive Club took the silver with a score of 176.75 after already winning gold on platform. Third place went to Charles Torrione of Duke Diving with a score of 168.85.
Ivan Kliminov of Mission Viejo is one of the international athletes in Group D. This is the third event in which his score would have earned him a gold medal. He scored 197.15 points in this event to lead the pack. Zeming Lu of Trojan Dive Club has also performed well – scoring 183.35. His score would have earned him a bronze in this group of divers. Both athletes were awarded medals for their performance and recognized on the award stand.
Stanford Diving swept the top three spots In the girls’ Group C (12-13 years) platform event. Arad Polak won the event with a score of 252.65 points. She was closely followed by Scarlett Wiens with 247.80 for the silver and Claire Ching with 244.30 points earning bronze.
The boys’ Group C (12-13 years) 3-meter competition was one of the more exciting of the day. Montgomery Dive Club took the top two spots, and less than nine points separated the top three competitors. Amir Owens won the event with a score of 330.00. Amir was also the gold medalist last year in Group D 3-meter competition. Noah Lieberman took second with a score of 322.70. He also took silver at last years’ competition behind his teammate. Tanner Tessier was less than one point behind with a score of 321.85.
The 2024 USA Diving Junior National Championships continue through August 8. Thursday’s competition features the 11-and-under girls on 1-meter, the 12-13 boys on platform and the 12-13 girls on 3-meter. In all, 28 junior national champions will be crowned throughout the competition.
