How did you get into speedskating?

My neighbors were hockey players, and they encouraged my siblings and me to try skating as well. Originally, I figure skated, but then turned to hockey as I was not interested in the spins and the jumps.  During my hockey season, I would travel to different rinks for games. On one of those days, I discovered speedskating at the Lakewood Ice Skating rink. I have been speedskating ever since.

What is your most memorable speedskating moment?

My most memorable speedskating moment is winning my first Age Group National Championship in 2008 along with my older sister.

What movie or book have you seen/read recently you would recommend? Why?

I would recommend the memoir, The Glass Castle, by Jeanette Walls because it is an inspiring autobiography that explores the complex relationship between love, duty, hardship, determination, and resilience.

Favorite food?

Cupcakes

When I am not training, you can find me...

Folding modular origami, sewing a quilt, playing the cello, cycling, reading, or at high school!

What is your charity involvement?

I have been a volunteer coach at the Santa Clarita Speedskating Club. I was also a part of the Red Cross Club.

Favorite quote?

“There is no one alive who is youer than you”- Dr. Seuss
